Task 2.6: Development of efficient mechanical anchorage device for precast beam-column joint
Task Leader(s): Dr. Ajay Chourasia, Ms.Shermi C
Objective:
- Development of efficient mechanical anchorage device for precast beam-column joint
Description of Task:
The reinforcement can receive its share of load only when the load is transferred to it from the concrete. For effective transfer of load from concrete to reinforcement, there must be proper anchorage. In general, anchorage is achieved by a combination of the bond (adhesion, friction and bearing against transverse ribs) and bearing on 900and 1800 hooks. In the medium to high rise buildings, larger diameter bar is used which is very difficult to bend in the form of bend or hook. The bends and tails of the hooked bars create congestion. The purpose of this research is to develop a suitable mechanical anchorage system, to overcome the problems viz. congestion, inadequate anchorage and honey-combing in joints. The developed system will provide adequate bond strength and speed in the construction process, especially in RC joints.
