Task 3.4: Development of anti-termite barrier for mass housing
Task Leader(s): Dr. B.S. Rawat
Objective:
- Development of anti-termite barrier for mass housing
Description of Task:
Termites are an essential member of the soil ecosystem and are found throughout the world. In their natural environment, they improve soil pH, organic carbon content, water content and porosity by cycling dead organics. They can negatively impact human welfare by causing damage to unprotected timber structures/elements in buildings, underground cables etc., To prevent termite entry into the buildings multiple approaches are used. A chemical barrier normally being used is in general toxic and expensive.
There is an urgent need to develop pesticide free, non-destructive and long-lasting technology for termite control in mass housing projects. The present task aims to develop evaluate the anti-termite physical barrier with improvd service life of mass housing.
Deliverables:
- Anti-termite physical barrier technology for mass housing
