Remote control of home appliances using Mobile or Web connectivity
Task Leader:- Joydeb Roy Chowdhury, Avilasa Saxena
Objective:
- Development of Suitable infrastructure for real time monitoring and control of various house hold equipments, gadgets using wireless sensor network or mobile telephony or internet.
- Development of Remote home Controller to integrate the residence’s various home automation systems where the appliances and devices are receivers, and the means of controlling the system, such as remote controls or keypads, are transmitters.
- Development of Effective energy monitoring and savings mechanism through prepaid metering with integrated remote control over electrical gadgets. This will lead to a reduced level of functionality of the equipments.
Scope of Work:
- Literature survey to understand the current global state of the art technology.
- Design and develop suitable hardware and system software which can be integrated with distributed house hold equipments through wireless sensor network in Indian operating condition.
- Design an integrated home control management unit.
- Design a suitable energy monitoring with display and alarm which can be integrated with distributed loads and sensors for optimal energy utilization.
- Design suitable GPRS system to integrate with a server for networked monitoring and control.
- Individual component level testing and system integration.
- Over all system level testing.
