Innovative Materials & Technologies for Next Generation Green Buildings

SUPRA INSTITUTIONAL NETWORK PROJECT Under CSIR-12TH FIVE YEAR PLAN

Task-2.2 :
Bio-Concrete as self Healing Material

Task Leader:-  Dr.(Mrs) Leena Chaurasia

Objective:

Development of self healing bio concrete using biological based techniques

Scope of the work:
  1. The suitability of very specific extremophiles calcifying bacteria & their ability to repair cracks in building structure using sustainable and bio-based self healing agent
  2. Setting of laboratory for Bio-concrete
  3. Methodology to develop self healing material using alkaliphlic calcifying bacteria
  4. Effect of calcifying bacteria in cement paste mixture and properties of mortar / concrete
  5. Process for self healing bio- concrete
